SUP Rules

Preparation

Attend an introductory course. Don’t paddle alone and plan your tour well.

Life-saving equipment

From 300 metres from the shore and on rivers, you must carry a buoyancy aid (50N buoyancy). We recommend that you always carry a life-saving device.

All-round light

In fog, dusk and at night, you need a clearly visible white all-round light on your SUP.

Labelling

Label your SUP with your name, address and telephone number.

Clothing

Dress according to the water temperature, weather and wind forecast.

Leash

Use the leash/foot line as follows: On the lake: Yes On rivers: No

Protection Nesting sites

Keep a distance of at least 25 metres from aquatic plants such as water lilies, reeds, etc.

Restricted areas

Yellow buoy fields must not be used. Avoid areas with bathers.

Rules of right of way

Scheduled boats, cargo ships, sailing boats and professional fishermen have right of way.

Rowing and paddle boats (SUP) have right of way. Keep moorings, harbour entrances and shipping lanes clear.

Storm warning

The orange flashing light shows you: Flashing slowly (40x/min)
Strong wind warning
Move close to the shore

Flashing fast (90x/min)
Storm warning
Leave the water immediately!

Alcohol

You should refrain from drinking alcohol before and during paddling.

Emergency

Call 117 for help.
